Our program is based on a foundation of classical ballet training. It is our belief that with proper ballet training all other forms of dance can be learned and learned well. Ballet provides training in proper body alignment, strength building of the entire body, along with an in-depth awareness between mind, body and spirit as it relates to the art form of dance.
Preschool through Beginners classes: Preschoolers and Beginners is the perfect time to capture the musicality within your child. The connection of music with movement improves the development of motor skills. The preschool class will learn the five fundamental positions of the feet and arms, port de bras (carriage of the arms), and an introductory overview of ballet terminology and movement. Our preschool class also engages in creative movement and expressive freestyle. Our Beginner's class become more structured as we continue with the basic ballet fundamentals, including exercises and repetition at the ballet barre, center work, with jumps and spins. As a parent you may wonder "What age is the best age to have a child start ballet?" I believe it is always good to enroll your child at an early age to explore "if" he or she enjoys an activity. PRESCHOOL MEETS TUESDAY 3:00 - 3:30 P.M. BEGINNER'S CLASS MEETS ON TUESDAY FROM 3:30 - 4:00 P.M.
Intermediate I Ballet / Tap Combo: This classes ranges in ages 6 - 10 and can include older beginners. The class is an hour in length and includes stretching, barre work, centre work, and more advantaged combination steps - including introduction of Adagio. This class is offered on TUESDAYS from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. We will also include tap at the end of class. Choreography combines classical ballet movements with freestyle (lyrical) .
Intermediate II Ballet & Prepointe Ballet: Intermediate II consists of advanced students ranging in ages from 8 - 23. Our younger students are those who have proven a commitment to ballet and dance at a young age and who have the ability to focus for a 90 minute class as well as demonstrate excellent work ethic. Intermediate II students are required to participate in a minimum of two 90 minute classes per week. This class meets on MONDAY AND TUESDAY from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. The focus of this class is to fine tune technique in ballet, explore jazz, lyrical, freestyle, and tap as added instruction to ballet.
Prepointe: Teacher's approval and recommendation are required to participate in the prepointe training. These students are required to meet the Intermediate Ii - two day per week commitment to qualify to participate in this class. This class meets WEDNESDAY from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Piano: We have a qualified teacher available on Thursdays for beginner through advanced piano lessons. If Thursday does not work the best for you please contact us to see if we can make other arrangements.
Adult Fitness Dance (Soon to be Zumba upon completion of certification): We are pleased to announce that we NOW offer this latin inspired form of exercise. Be careful, however, as you may catch yourself 'dancing'! Kristina Koutek is now working toward her certification to offer Zumba. In the meanwhile, Kristina will be offering fitness dance. Come and join this fun and lively group on Mondays and Wednesdays - 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Drop-ins are welcome! Bring your indoor fitness shoes too.

Dad and daughter parties can be arranged upon request. You may invite up to 5 or 6 couples for a birthday party, a 'just because' party, or date night. We will give simple instruction for Daughter and Daddy dances.

MODERN DANCE - Is now being incorporated into our Intermediate II classes.

THIS SUMMER WE WILL BE OFFERING:
* Session III for Intermediate II run April, May, June & July. Session III will act as our INTENSIVE STUDY TIME AND SPRING PERFORMANCE CHOREOGRAPHY FINISHING.
* SUMMER CLASSES AVAILABLE FOR PRESCHOOL THROUGH INTERMEDIATE I BEGINS IN JUNE AND RUNS THROUGH JULY 2012. This is a good time to introduce your child to a new level or ask for private intensive study in addition to summer class. Your instructor will make recommendations for this option or if you feel you and your child is ready for an advancement please speak with Lisa prior to May 1st to make such arrangements.
